The Bowen Technique is a holistic manual therapy. It means that it treats the person as a whole, using the body's innate healing mechanisms.

The practitioner delivers signals to the nervous system by using soft and precise moves at specific locations (on muscles, tendons, ligaments or nerves), and respects pauses between them in order for the body to react to these stimulations.

This technique addresses the autonomic nervous system which controls the majority of the functions of the body. The aim is to shift the body from sympathetic mode (stress) to parasympathetic mode (relax & repair) so it can trigger its healing functions and obtain a definitive cure of what has been caused by traumatic disbalances or/and injuries.

In contrast to other manual therapies where practitioners impose a correction on the body, the Bowen Technique will softly lead the body to its self-balance as a response to the moves of the therapist. It is a self-healing message to the body that activates its own curing potential. This therapy is completely harmless and safe, it has no prerequisites as the body works as an intelligent organism and it will never harm itself.
